Rubber Tree Planter...
The rubber tree planter is a project I recently completed using wood that I had prevously used for another project. I used red cedar shelving for the original project that I built in the early 1980's. I disassembled the original project hoping to find a suitable use for it at a later date, and built this for the rubber tree to use. It's difficult to find cedar that is as deep red as this is now. I love being able to reuse such nice wood on my projects. The polyurethane finish adds great protection and helps bring out the deep red in the wood. An interesting note, the rubber tree was a house warming gift taken from a large local business in terrible shape and given to me when I bought my first house --in 1989! The least I can do is provide attractive surroundings for it as it grows old with me.
Tall Planter Stand...
This is one of my more recent projects, A close friend needed a plant stand for an old spider plant that resided in a nice sunroom, and had plenty of growth in its tentacles. The wood I used for it was pine for the top, and I used a piece of oak that had probably been in my basement for 40 years for the base.
